The Cape Breton moose hunt has been suspended for three years. This is a necessary conservation measure to safeguard the future of moose in Cape Breton. The 2024 survey showed a significant drop in the estimated population, from about 1500 to about 835. Suspending the hunt is expected to help the population start returning to more sustainable numbers.
